Firefighters were called to save a cow trapped in a half-empty well in Qinzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on January 21.

A cowherd, surnamed Hu, said that he was leading the cattle to a pasture when one of the animals stumbled and fell into the five-meter deep pit.

Firefighters decided that the safest way to get the cow out was to fill the narrow hole with water and let the creature float upwards, reported Tencent.

The frightened animal was hoisted to safety about 20 minutes later.

The cow had hurt its tail in the unfortunate incident but seemed to have avoided serious injuries.
